Class Information- classes require pre-registration.

The Wascana Dog Obedience Club offers all levels of obedience training from puppy and basic pet manners to advanced competition classes as well as agility and rally obedience.
You can start your new puppy off with our Puppy Class or you can start your older puppy or adult dog with the Beginner's Class. Conformation handling classes are also available.

Class Schedule
We have highly qualified and experienced instructors.
A limited number of dogs are allowed in each class and each class has a minimum of
2 instructors to ensure everyone gets all the help they need.

Puppy  Class

For puppies 10 weeks - approx. 4 months old
Length: 7 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $80.00
This class has three components – training, socialization and education. Each week time is spent on each of these things. Training will include a start on the very basics such as leash training, sit, down & come when called. The socialization portion will include introducing your puppy to different sights and sounds, often using some of the agility equipment and puppy play sessions.

The education portion In the informational portion will include topics such as jumping up, biting/mouthing, stealing, grooming, crate training, toys, vet visits, traveling with your pet and much more. This is an ideal opportunity to ask questions and get great advice!!!
This class will provide you with the proper tools to give your puppy a great start towards growing into a healthy, happy, well-behaved dog.

Beginner Level 1 Class
For dogs and adolescents over approx. 4 months of age
Length: 8 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $90.00

In this class we’ll give you the tools you need to train your dog to be a well-behaved member of your family. The curriculum includes walking on a loose leash (heeling), sit and sit stay, down and down stay, stand and stand stay and come when called. Your instructor will also show you how to apply these skills your dog learns in life everyday so your dog has good manners and behaviour at home, in the car, in the park or almost anywhere else you’d like to include him.
This class is also a pre-requisite for most other classes.


Introduction to Dog Sports (Beginner Level 2)
Prerequisite: Puppy or Beginner
Length - 8 weeks - 1hour/week
Cost: $90.00

This class continues to emphasize the use of skills learned in Beginner Level One in every day situations. This will include proofing your dog to work with several different distractions.
In this class you’ll also get a taste of some of the many dogsports that are available in Regina. This may include Canine Good Citizen Test exercises, rally obedience, agility, tricks and more. We often have students repeating this class as it’s a lot of fun and each class is a little different from the one before.

Novice
Prerequisite: Beginner or equivalent - if previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may need to evaluate your dog to ensure he’s ready for this level
Length: 8 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $90.00

This class teaches all the exercises required for the novice class in obedience trials. The rules for CKC obedience trials are shown for each exercise as well as many tips on how to improve your dogs heeling skills and how to avoid losing points in the obedience ring.

Rally
Prerequisite: Beginner level 1 or intro to dog sports - if previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may need to evaluate your dog to ensure he’s ready for this level
Length: 8 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $90.00

Learn about the fast growing sport of Rally Obedience. Hone you and your dog’s obedience skills while learning the signs for both CARO and CKC Rally.

Agility (Levels 1 and 2)
Prerequisite: Beginner level 1 - if previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may need to evaluate your dog to ensure he’s ready for this level
Length: 8 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $100.00

Introduce your dog to this fast-paced dog sport. Learn how to teach your dog to properly perform the different pieces of equipment found in agility including the tunnel, jumps, teeter, tire jump, contact equipment, pause box. In the level 2 class improve your handling skills.

Open - Level 1
Prerequisite: Novice or if previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may need to evaluate your dog to ensure he’s ready for this level
Length: 8 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $90.00

In this you and your dog will learn the first steps of the exercises for the open class in obedience trials. The drop on recall, jumps and out of sight stays will be covered but much of the focus being on retrieving.

Open - Level 2
Prerequisite: Open level 1 or if previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may need to evaluate your dog to ensure he’s ready for this level
Length: 8 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $100.00

This class starts where the level 1 class left off. The final steps of all exercises are taught and proofed and obedience trial rules will be covered.

NOTE: due to sometimes not having enough students for 2 separate classes, open level 1 & open level 2 may be combined, with 2 instructors available to work with each student at their own level.

Utility Class
Prerequisite: Open or if previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may need to evaluate your dog to ensure he’s ready for this level
Length: 8 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $100.00

This class teaches the exercises needed in the utility class at obedience trials.

Obedience Trial Ready Class
Length: 6 weeks - 1 hour/week
Cost: $60.00 or $15.00/class for drop in

Ready to head to the ring for a trial but need a little extra work? -- THIS class is for you. It runs for 6 weeks and helps you work out all the quirks before entering into the ring at a trial. This class is always taught by experienced instructors who trial on a regular basis and are knowledgeable on all the CKC obedience trial rules.

Conformation Classes
Drop in class held on Sundays at 1:00pm- see saskshowdogs for class dates

This class will help you prepare for conformation shows.Taught by experienced instructors.

Obedience Drop In
This isn't a class.
It's a time that the building will be open to anyone who wants to
come practice.

Rally Trial Ready/drop In Class

Each week 2 courses will
be set up and handlers and there dogs can try it as many time as
they wish. This isn't run like a class but someone will be there
each week who can set up a course and answer questions.
Cost: $15.00 a class
